Daniel J. Dalton

Daniel J. Dalton is a member of the Kennedy University Hospital Board of Trustees and serves on numerous committees of the Board such as the Facilities, Retirement and Kennedy Health Care Center.

Former Secretary of State for New Jersey, Mr. Dalton is an Executive with Brown & Brown of NJ, Inc., a full service property casualty and benefits insurance office. From 1994 until 2007, he was President of the Dalton Insurance Agency in Glassboro, New Jersey.

As Secretary of State for the State of New Jersey from 1992 to 1994, Mr. Dalton was responsible for overseeing six divisions with more than 250 employees, along with supervising the certification and preservation of election results and overseeing many cultural activities in the State.

Mr. Dalton was also a member of the New Jersey State Legislature from 1980 until 1992, serving on the State Assembly (1980-82), as State Senator (1982-1992) and as Senate Majority Leader (1990-1992).

As Chairman of the Senate Special Committee on Automobile Insurance Reform, Mr. Dalton was responsible for overseeing a comprehensive look at the state’s automobile insurance system and recommended several important changes. During his time in the Legislature, Mr. Dalton also sponsored the Quality Education Act of 1990, authored the country’s strongest pollution prevention plan designed to avert policy by reducing the use of hazardous materials in manufacturing, and authored the measure to create a statewide 911 enhanced emergency telephone system.

Mr. Dalton served as a member of the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority, and was President of the Founding Board of Directors for the Boys & Girls Club of Gloucester County. He is also on the Board of Directors of Parke Bank. Mr. Dalton is the recipient of many awards, including the 1992 “Spirit of South Jersey Award,” presented by the Southern New Jersey Development Council and the 1997 NJ Jersey Professional Insurance Agents Director of the Year award.

A graduate of Kings College in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., Mr. Dalton received a master's degree in public administration at Memphis State University in Tennessee.
