Helene Burns, MSN, RN, is the Chief Nursing Officer for Kennedy. Ms. Burns concurrently serves as Vice President of Clinical Services.
During her tenure with Kennedy, Kennedy – Stratford has received Level 1 accreditation for its bariatric surgery program, through Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP) and the hospital also received the Gold Plus® Award for its stroke program from the American Heart Association, among other achievements. A member of Kennedy’s leadership team since 2008, Ms. Burns was named one of the New Jersey Institute for Nursing’s “Divas and Dons” for 2012, one of 19 honorees from all areas of nursing recognized for their extraordinary impact on the profession and the community.
Ms. Burns has more than 30 years of experience in the healthcare industry. Her management experience includes seven years as Director of Nursing at Delaware County Memorial Hospital in Drexel Hill, Pa., prior to joining Kennedy. She also served as Administrative Director at Denton Regional Medical Center in Texas, and as an Administrative Director at Southern New Hampshire Medical Center in Nashua, NH. Additionally, Ms. Burns spent more than 15 years (1981-1997) at AtlantiCare Health System in Atlantic City, NJ, where she held several leadership positions.
Ms. Burns earned both her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree (1981) and her Master of Science degree in Nursing (1994) from Widener University in Chester, Pa. She was the 1994 recipient of the Dean’s Award for Nursing during her graduate studies. A board certified Nurse Executive, Advanced through the American Nurses Credentialing Center, Ms. Burns and her husband reside in Berlin, NJ.
