Kennedy University Hospital Nurse Manager Susan Cooke, RN, of Mullica Hill, NJ, was honored at a Gala in Philadelphia on May 12th as a finalist in the Nurse Excellence Awards sponsored by Nursing Spectrum magazine. Cooke, a Kennedy associate since November 2007, was one of five nurses in the management category singled out for this distinction and the only one from South Jersey. The Nurse Excellence Award recognizes the contributions nurses make to their patients and other nurses.
In addition, Kennedy invited the following nurses to the Gala as an acknowledgement of their outstanding contributions to patient care: Dana Byrd, RN (Sicklerville); Priscilla Callahan, RN (Glendora); Deborah Dominy, RN (Wenonah); Kathryn Donley, RN (Philadelphia); Clarissa Espulgar, RN (Williamstown); Maureen Green, RN (Pennsauken); Casimir Hajduk, RN (Maple Shade); Beena Lukose, RN (Mt. Ms. Cooke, who manages the Intensive Care Unit, is Chairperson for the Critical Care Service Line Committee and is a member of Kennedy’s Critical Care Committee, Safe Patient Handling Committee and Informatics Committee. She is also a member of the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN). A graduate of The University of Delaware School of Nursing and currently enrolled in Drexel University’s MSN program for nursing leadership, Cooke is married and the mother of an 18-year-old daughter. She and her family live in Mullica Hill, NJ.
