The first Transoral Robotic Surgery (TORS) in southern New Jersey was conducted at Kennedy University Hospital on April 22, 2011. Kennedy Medical Staff member Scott R. Schaffer, M.D., FACS, a board-certified otolaryngologist, operated on a 57-year-old Atco, NJ, woman using Intuitive Surgical da Vinci® S HD System, commonly referred to as “robot-assisted surgery.”

Medical director of the Kennedy Bariatric Surgery Program, Dr. Marc Neff performed a sleeve gastrectomy on Brooks, a procedure that reduces the size of the stomach by 25%.

Kennedy Elects New Medical Staff Officers

Anthony Brown, D.O ., has been elected Chief of Staff of South Jersey, NJ-based Kennedy University Hospitals. Melanie Angelo D.O. has been named Vice Chief of Staff, and Todd P. Levin, D.O. has been elected Treasurer. All three terms are for two years. The election was held at the recent annual Medical Staff meeting.
