Helene Burns, MSN, RN, has been named Vice President of Clinical Services for Kennedy University Hospital in Stratford, NJ.
In this position, Ms. Burns -- who joined Kennedy in 2008 as Assistant Vice President -- will oversee the operational and clinical aspects of care at Kennedy – Stratford, an acute care hospital with more than 800 employees.
During her tenure with Kennedy, Kennedy – Stratford has received Level 1 accreditation for its bariatric surgery program, through the American College of Surgeons’ Bariatric Surgery Network (BSCN), and has received the Silver Award for its stroke program from the American Heart Association, among other achievements.
Ms. Burns has more than 30 years of experience in the healthcare industry. Her management experience includes seven years as Director of Nursing at Delaware County Memorial Hospital in Drexel Hill, Pa., prior to joining Kennedy. She also served as Administrative Director at Denton Regional Medical Center in Texas, and as an Administrative Director at Southern New Hampshire Medical Center in Nashua, NH. Additionally, Ms. Burns spent more than 15 years (1982-1997) at AtlantiCare Health System in Atlantic City, NJ, where she held several leadership positions.
Ms. Burns earned both her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree (1981) and her Master of Science degree in Nursing (1994) from Widener University in Chester, Pa. She was the 1994 recipient of the Dean’s Award for Nursing during her graduate studies. A board certified Nurse Executive, Advanced through the American Nurses Credentialing Center, Ms. Burns resides in Berlin, NJ, with her husband.
