National Nutrition Month® is a national nutrition education and information campaign designed to focus attention on the importance of making informed food choices and developing sound eating and physical activity habits.
The Kennedy Health System has new programs – both group and one-on-one offerings -- that will help you reach your personal health goals – in a fun, supportive environment.
The Kennedy Health System and Sodexo are offering “Create Your Weight,” a 12-week adult weight management program, developed and taught by Registered Dietitians and based on guidelines from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, which sponsors National Nutrition Month.
Create Your Weight Adult Weight Management Program encompasses nutrition education, physical activity and the role of behavioral therapy in weight reduction and weight management. This educational program provides participants with the knowledge and tools they need to successfully manage their weight forever simply by making better choices. Nutrition education includes:
The program’s physical activity module addresses the role of exercise and physical activity in weight reduction and weight management. Lastly, the behavior modification module focuses on personal awareness, behavior chains and our relationship to food.
After the 12-week weight loss program, participants may continue their weight management goals in the “Create Your Weight Phase Two” program. The Kennedy Health System also offers a comprehensive Nutritional Counseling program, which provides one-on-one consultation to children or adults either referred by their physician or taking steps on their own to improve their health. Nutritional Counseling is offered by trained Registered Dietitians at Kennedy’s Diabetes Control locations in Cherry Hill, Somerdale and Washington Township, NJ, by appointment.
