Aetna Insurance Update

Kennedy Health System currently does not have a contract with Aetna for in-network benefits.  We are hopeful that this will be resolved as soon as possible for the benefit of our patients.

At Kennedy Health System, we are committed to providing the finest healthcare services with excellent outcomes to people living in our communities. Our ability to continue to provide the highest quality healthcare to customers is dependent upon us receiving fair compensation from our third-party payers.

We will continue to take all reasonable steps to work out an agreement with Aetna, but we will not do so under terms that will limit our ability to provide quality, affordable care to all of our patients.

Kennedy is currently contracted with every other major insurer and PPO in our service area, including:

  • AmeriChoice / United HealthCare Community Plan
  • AmeriGroup
  • AmeriHealth
  • Bravo Health
  • Cigna
  • Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of NJ
  • Horizon NJ Health
  • Keystone Health Plan
  • Independence Blue Cross
  • Oxford Health Plans
  • United HealthCare
  • MagnaCare
  • Qualcare
Aetna Patients: Important Information

Anyone can come at any time to the Kennedy Emergency Departments. Standard in-network benefits apply. If you are admitted or any tests are required as a result of the emergency room visit, that is covered at in-network benefit levels.

If you are in a self-funded or Medicare Advantage Plan, you can only use the Kennedy emergency rooms. Any elective procedures would be covered as an out-of-network benefit if you have that option and choose to use it.

If you have a fully insured Aetna plan, you may come to Kennedy for elective procedures until May 31, 2013. After this date, any elective procedures would be covered as an out-of-network benefit if you have that option and choose to use it.

Not sure if your plan is fully insured or self-funded? Ask your employer or call the Aetna provider number on the back of your insurance card.

Please find all of the information that you need to know below. If you have additional questions, please call our hotline at 888-723-3750 or speak with your doctor directly.
