Kennedy’s Marcia Redden Receives State Nursing Award

Corporate Director of Perioperative Services with the Kennedy Health System, recently received the Divisional Leader Award from the Organization of Nurse Executives/New Jersey (ONE/NJ).

The Divisional Leader Award is presented to a ONE/NJ nurse leader responsible for divisional or multiple units who does not serve as a chief nursing officer. Ms. Redden, an eight-year member of the Kennedy Health System nursing leadership team, received the award in recognition of her many accomplishments at Kennedy, including her leadership role in the development of Kennedy’s Bariatric and Robotic surgery programs and our acclaimed neurosciences program in 2011.

Her innovative approach to the design of new ORs in 2009 incorporated parallel processing to increase efficiency, as well as staff and patient satisfaction. Ms. Redden is responsible for operations and strategic planning for Surgical Services at Kennedy’s three hospitals. She was one of seven honorees to receive awards at the ONE/NJ Annual Holiday Meeting and Awards Brunch on December 6th.

Prior to joining Kennedy in 2005, Ms. Redden had served as Director of Surgical Services at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia for seventeen  years, where her many achievements included starting transplant programs for liver, lung and bone marrow. She had also served as Director of Surgical Services at Bethany Medical Center in Kansas City, KS, from 1979 to 1987. Ms. Redden received her RN degree from Research Medical Center in Kansas City, MO, in 1969 and her Bachelors of Science in Health Care Administration from St. Francis College in Illinois in 1984. A member of the American Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses (AORN), the American Nurses Association and ONE/NJ, she resides in Cherry Hill, New Jersey.
