|Kennedy’s Dr. Carman Ciervo Honored by American Osteopathic Association|

Carman A. Ciervo, D.O., FACOFP, dist., has been recognized by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) as a Guardian of the Profession.
Dr. Ciervo -- Senior Vice President for Clinical & Population Health Services at the South Jersey-based Kennedy Health System – was recognized for demonstrating a strong sense of pride in the osteopathic medical profession and for working actively to advance osteopathic medicine. The AOA also defines a Guardian of the Profession as an osteopathic physician who advances the culture of osteopathic medicine by having served in a local, state or national osteopathic leadership role.
A member of Kennedy’s senior leadership team since 2010, Dr. Ciervo oversees the management and operations of the Kennedy Health Alliance, a quickly growing network of primary and specialty care physician practices, that provide South Jersey residents with access to top notch medical care close to home. Dr. Ciervo also serves as Kennedy’s Physician Liaison with the South Jersey community.
This summer, Dr. Ciervo will begin his new role as the Health System’s Chief Physician Executive. A member of the Board of Governors for the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians (ACOPF), Dr. Ciervo is Governor of the ACOFP, the largest component of the American Osteopathic Association. He serves on numerous national committees.
Dr. Ciervo earned his D.O. degree from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1988, completing his residency in Family Medicine through UMDNJ-SOM in 1991. Dr. Ciervo was inducted into the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) Mentor Hall of Fame in 2006 and received the National ACOFP Excellence in State Society Leadership Award in 2008. In 2010, he was honored as one of five national finalists in the AOA’s Mentor of the Year program, which recognizes those who help shape the future of the osteopathic medical profession through their involvement with students and young physicians.
As a member of ACOFP, Dr. Ciervo has served on the Industry Relations Committee, as Chair of the In-service Exam Committee, and Vice Chair of the Committee on Evaluation and Education. Past President for the New Jersey Chapter for ACOFP, Dr. Ciervo is also a member of the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine, the American Osteopathic Association, and American Medical Association. He has also been honored by South Jersey and SJ magazines as a “Top Doc” in various physician and reader polls over the past several years.
