Joseph W. Devine

Joseph W. Devine, FACHE, is President & CEO of the Kennedy Health System.  A 28-year Kennedy veteran, Mr. Devine is an officer of the Corporation of Kennedy Health System and an Ex-Officio of the Kennedy University Board of Trustees. He is a Board Member of:  Kennedy Health Facilities, Inc.; Kennedy Management Group; Kennedy Property Corporation; and the Kennedy Health Alliance.

Under his leadership, the Kennedy Health System has been honored as one of the “Best Hospitals in the Country” by U.S. News & World Report (2014-2015), as well as being named a “Top Workplace” by Philly.com. Kennedy continues to achieve strong results and growth as an organization that is improving the access to outstanding healthcare for the people of our region. . In 2014, Kennedy received an award from the Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of NJ network as a top performing hospital for safe, high-quality, and effective patient care.

An active, visible leader, Mr. Devine was presented with the Kennedy Beacon Award in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the community and to Kennedy’s mission. His many other achievements include receiving the “Community Benefit Award” at a Dancing with the Gloucester County’s Stars event by raising $62,000 for Kennedy’s Ronald McDonald House Charities Pediatric Center and, in 2013,  he received the Gloucester County NAACP’s Corporate Diversity Award in recognition of Kennedy’s commitment to diversity in the workplace. In 2011, Mr. Devine was named Gloucester County “Business Person of the Year” by the County Chamber of Commerce. That same year, he also was a recipient of the Philadelphia Pinnacle Award, presented annually to individuals who have reached the highest levels of career achievement and public service.

In 2014, Mr. Devine was chosen by South Jersey Business People (SJBP) Magazine as one of the region’s “Executives of the Year” and was also honored by the Washington Township Chamber of Commerce with the Rick Zammer Business Hall of Fame Award. Mr. Devine also received the Andre and Addie Taliaferro Award from the Adam Taliaferro Foundation. 

Mr. Devine serves as a Commissioner of the South Jersey Transportation Authority, as a member of the New Jersey Hospital Association Board of Trustees, a board member of the Southern New Jersey  Chamber of Commerce, Executive Club Chairman of the Gloucester County Chamber of Commerce, as well as with the Adam Taliaferro Foundation, which supports athletes with spinal cord injuries. He has also been Chairperson for the South Jersey Heart Walk, Chairperson for the regional Arthritis Foundation Walk, and is active in many other charitable events. Mr. Devine was also Chairman of the Washington Township Mayor’s Task Force on Economic Development.   

Mr. Devine holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Philadelphia’s St. Joseph’s University.  He is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives, its highest level of recognition.

Joe and his wife, Dina, are residents of Washington Township, NJ since 1986.  They have two married daughters.
