At Kennedy, physicians are one of our most important customers, and we work very hard to make sure they have all the help and support they need to provide excellent patient care. Our physicians have been the major contributors to our increasing market share and steady growth, and will be key players in shaping Kennedy's bright future.
Kennedy's mission is to provide the finest, most effective and efficient healthcare services to people living in our communities. This can only be accomplished through the cooperation of our fine physicians and staff, working in tandem to enhance the patient's experience and to assure positive patient outcomes.
In 1977, Kennedy became formally affiliated with the University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ), which has become one of the states' largest teaching hospitals. In 2005, Kennedy was selected as one of only four hospitals in the state designated as a Principal Hospital for UMDNJ.
Today, as one of the top employers in South Jersey, Kennedy is committed to be a premier healthcare delivery system with excellence in primary, ambulatory and specialty services. We invite you to share our vision and to join our healthcare team.
Martin Bieber, President & CEO
At Kennedy, we know that satisfied physicians and staff translates into satisfied patients, and we do everything possible to make that a reality. Kennedy is committed to Service Excellence and our employees are engaged in continuous process improvement initiatives to ensure the best possible patient care.
Meanwhile, Kennedy continues to invest in state-of-the-art technologies and services to support our excellent medical staff and top-notch nursing team. In 2003, we christened a $23.4-million emergency department in Washington Township, and the next year we opened the Ronald McDonald House Family Room to support it.
More recently, we've introduced the VITAS Inpatient Hospital Care® Unit, a $8.3 million 40-bed Progressive Care Unit (PCU), a Neo-Natal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), a Balance Center, a Bariatric Surgery Program and a Stroke Program. We continue to update our hospital facilities and will soon complete major renovations to our hospital in Stratford.
Kennedy remains known for its excellent patient and nursing care; its signature Behavioral Health Program; its excellent Cancer Center; it's extensive Women's & Children's Services; its ambulatory services and its many Wellness and Community Education programs.
Joseph W. Devine Senior Vice President Administration & External Relations
Kennedy continues to work to improve communication with our physicians, to enhance services for physicians and their patients, to support physician practices, and to explore new ways to improve Kennedy's physician relations. Kennedy's Office of Physician Relations focuses full time on these issues, while addressing matters such as physician recruitment, practice transition plans, physician retention, new business development, new clinical program initiatives and physician partnering strategies.
Having served Kennedy in a variety of executive positions for more than 20 years, I know how important it is for a health system to meet physicians needs. I also know that a strong relationship with medical staff members is the most effective way to guarantee the best patient care - a win-win for patients, physicians and the Kennedy Health System. In addition, the Market Development department serves as a liaison between physicians, their office managers and the Kennedy Health System to assure that physicians practice needs are meeting their expectations.
We look forward to working with Kennedy physicians to make the relationship as rewarding as possible for or physicians, the Health System and the patients whom we serve together.
