|Types of Gifts|
When you make an outright gift to Kennedy Health System, your contribution can be put to work immediately by either providing funding for current programs or creating a reliable source of future income by expanding the organization’s managed special purpose fund assets. An outright gift may be composed of almost any asset of value.
This type of gift is the simplest and easiest gift a donor can make. It can be made through credit card/debit card transactions, outright cash, or a personal check. These gifts are immediately available to the Kennedy organization for both donor-designated and undesignated purposes. Cash gifts tend to be the most common means of philanthropy.
Gifts of Appreciated Securities, Stocks & Bonds
Utilizing securities that have appreciated in value to fund charitable gifts is one of the most effective means of benefiting Kennedy while obtaining considerable income tax advantages. For details and assistance on how to make a gift transfer of stock securities, please contact a member of the Foundation staff.
An easy way to double or even triple your donation to Kennedy is to find out if your company has a matching-gift program. Such programs typically match all or a percentage of employee contributions to charitable organizations, making the employer a partner in employees’ personal philanthropy. Simply obtain a matching-gift form from your employer’s personnel office, fill it out, and provide it to Kennedy with your contribution.
Memorial & Honor Gifts
Memorial or honor gifts provide you with the opportunity to recognize those who have made an impact on your life. This type of gift is a sincere way to memorialize or celebrate the life and accomplishments of a relative, friend, doctor or other healthcare professional. These kinds of gifts can be made as general contributions or planned gifts. If you request it, we will notify the family of the memorialized individual or honoree with a special letter from the Kennedy Health System Foundation informing them the gift has been made.
Estate & Will Gifts
Planned gifts provide the resources that create extraordinary opportunities and preserve Kennedy’s future. These types of gifts include bequests, trusts and wills as well as charitable gift annuities. There are other types of planned gifts. Persons should discuss these with a qualified charitable gift planner and a professional advisor to learn about the type of planned gift that would be most appropriate for them. Planned gifts enable you to make a substantial gift to Kennedy Health System while also providing benefits to you and your family. Our Development staff can help you make provisions for Kennedy Health System in your estate. Click here to contact Joseph M. Calabro, Executive Director, Kennedy Foundation for assistance.
Establishing a pledge is a transformational and impactful way to make a specific commitment to Kennedy Health System. In making a pledge, a donor, in consultation with Development staff, determines his or her total pledge amount, the program or service to benefit from the gift, the time period for which the pledge will be paid and the frequency of pledge payments.
